Sheesh, did anyone actually read the person's question? It's about the battery, not the filter. You have to get the outer cover off and it's not easy. There are four tabs which need to be released. I have to use a very sharp, heavy duty knife and jam something in at each tab.

Eventually I was able to get the cover off. The battery compartment appear to be 6 sub-C NiCd batteries. These are tack welded together in series. They aren't cheap unless ordering from China.
