Installing Ppjoy On Windows 8
PPJoy stands for Parallel Port Joystick and it is designed to add virtual joysticks under windows operating system. It was never designed to run on Windows 7, this is why process is more complex when installing it under window 7, but it is working with little bit of effort and this article explains in detail on how. Apr 02, 2016 Hello Ganoderma, Have you tried installing PPJoy in compatibility mode? This is a Windows 7 Operating system forum!!!
Hi, I've tried today installing vJoy and I've realized the installation fails if you already have PPJoy installed. This is the content of the 'vJoyInstall.log' file that is executed during the installation process. +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ Fri Jan 17 11: +++++++ +++++++ OS: 6.1 Service Pack 1 (x64) [Ultimate Edition] >>main: DeviceHWID -->root VID_1234&PID_BEAD&REV_0202; InfFile -->vJoy. Hopefully we can use a signed virtual joystick driver and fix existing bugs in PPJoy using vJoy. Ok I've uninstalled PPJoy because I lost Virtual Joystick 1 and was unable to reinstall it Now I'm unable to reinstall PPJoy too So, I decided to switch my computer to non test mode and reainstall vJoy with the idea to migrate my code to vJoy directly. This means I'm going to help you on the development of the new version and the C# library as well. Now the situation is that the installer failed to install.
But cannot find the exact reason why. I'm attaching the log files. Archdale Drill Manual Army on this page. I'm going to restart the computer because there are no real sings the installation failed. I just wrote an extended response. Now it is no longer there. Does this forums works OK? Let me see if I can write it again.
I managed to install the new release dated January 18th and everything looks OK. This is what I did. Uninstall PPJoy and VJoy 2.
Set the computer in test mode 3. Install VJoy (I know test mode is not required for VJoy) All looks fine, There is just one driver not signed installed. See the screen capture_1.PNG. Screen Capture_3.PNG shows the driver is not signed. Installed 3 virtual joysticks everything looks OK.
On screen capture_2.PNG there is a screenshot 5. Installed PPJoy 0.8.4.6 no error messages. The BUS driver is installed under Game Devices as you can see on Capture_4.PNG.
I believe the equivalent driver in VJoy is installed under HID devices and I think PPJoy is more appropriate because the BUS is not a HID device. Installed one virtual joystick under PPJoy and it failed with error 50 (0x32). Capture_5 is the error message sent to the user interface (a problem writing device properties) capture_6.PNG shows the detailed information in the setupapi.dev.log file) In order to move forward I need to fix the problem in PPJoy and this requires to dig into the PPJoy source code and check the reasons the driver cannot be started (errors creating keys in the windows registry.). Hello Shaun Thank your for the information provided. I finally managed to repair the computer using a restore from a previous version. Now I've a functional computer with just PPJoy and I can continue the development as usual.
I created a virtual machine to continue my testing in a safe environment 1 In that virtual machine I configured Windows test mode ON 2 Installed PPJoy 3 Configured 4 virtual devices from 1 to 4 4 everything was OK 5 Installed vJoy from January 17th (this installs one virtual device as well) 6 configured 3 devices, one and two with 32 buttons. 3 with 8 buttons this is what I've now (see screen capture_1) The information I see about the vJoy virtual device corresponds with the last device (vJoy 3), Parallel Port Joystick 1 from PPJoy is no longer in the system. Now I'm going to restart the virtual computer. After the restart of the virtual computer, all PPJoy devices are no longer operational (see screen capture 2) and the windows game devices is empty (see screen capture 3) So, the installation of vJoy fails if PPJoy is installed and PPJoy installation becomes corrupted.
